Whoa! I had always seen this around, lurking in the shadows, literally, and finally took the plunge during the early 'stay at home' times. Part fantasy, part historical fiction, part 'I've never read anything like this', kind of novel. A kind of literary 'Clue', the German writer Süskind did something very unique here with scent. There are also films based on the story? Of course there are.
