de Beauvoir was a complex person, and it shows in this well organized 'story' of her life, but really it's more about the French thinkers philosophy than her life. Clearly's treatment lays down the trajectory of de Beauvoir's encounters with all sorts of folks to show how she came to her Exestential philosophy. Is it light reading? Non, but its good.
