The Other Eden - Paul Harding

This is the same writer who brought us Tinkers, that superbly quiet, slim, contemplative novel. When I started this book I thought, this writing reminds me of... I forgot it was the same writer, but then quickly remembered. The story of an interracial family in the 18th/19th century, and now things could have been beautiful and right, until the 'bad folks' show up. And they do show up, they always do. Hardin's novel is a Booker Prize, National Book Award, all the awards winning, "A transcendent story of human dignity in the face of bigotry" (from the back!). This is a like new copy.
