The Lonely Londoners - Sam Selvon

I believe they call this type of writing 'social realism', and this was one of the first of its kind to dive into the black and/or Caribbean migrant's life in below-working-class conditions in 50's London. Selvon uses local dialect to superb results in a story that probably hasn't changed all that much, and that's why its so important.
