Elective Affinities - Goethe

The Genius strikes again. This is Goethe's 3rd novel published in 1809. I often ask myself, 'Can I even read something written that long ago? Am I able to process the way people wrote back then?' The answer is: I still need to try. And one place I always go to is Goethe. 'Elective Affinities' is a great term used to describe compounds that only interacted with each other under select circumstances (like the marriage in this novel), Sciencey stuff, so of course Goethe would use a term so clever. We revere Goethe, there, I said it. This is a gently read, vintage papeback.
