I can see why everybody falls a little bit in love with MFK Fisher's writing, and ultimately with her. She has this delicate way of putting things, even if she's attempting to shame the reader a little for not knowing how to shuck an oyster (I do not know how), and we still love her. This is her autobiography, her setting sail from NYC to Dijon, France in pre war Europe where she discovers culinary delights in a way she never had. Her origin story, if you will. Her love of food, love of language, love of storytelling; It's all here. Like new copy!
