The Empusium (A Health Resort Horror Story) - Olga Tokarczuk

We have a thing for health resort/sanitorium stories and Tokarczuk's beguiling tale falls neatly into this category. Like Thomas Mann's Magic Mountain, to Stefan Zweig's Burning Secret, there's something special about a story set in an isolated, usually the Alps? clinical setting. In this case we're in Poland, pre WWI, it's probably cold, and we're at the award winning hands of Tokarczuk, a Nobel Prize winner for Flights (so good!) *It's also a cool Fitzcarraldo edtion found in Paris, like new.
