The Road to Los Angeles - John Fante

We love Mr. Fante! He is a kind of George Orwell (maybe?), of Los Angeles, creating a sort of 'dirty realism' that reminds this reader of the great Down and Out in Paris and London by Orwell. Fiction based on truth, which all good fiction is, Fante gives us his unforgettable character of 'Arthur Bandini', that loveable rogue, which most certainly is largely based on Fante's real-life passages in 1920s/30s LA. I could go on! But you just gotta read him, and you also gotta love LA in a way that makes no sense to appreciate Mr. Fante. This is a very cool copy, almost pristine! Treated with the utmost care, found in NYC.
