I always get my Francis Bacons confused - this is the writer one, not the artist, though we could probably say this bacon was an artist of philosophy. First published in 1605, (1605!) it was one of the first writings to systemize the whole range of human knowledge. Light reading for sure! But essential if you wanna understand how and why stuff is organized the way it is. Great copy.
